My own news;
Active as ever, but now fighting a little middle age spread! (not that I believe I am middle aged). I have won a years membership to Greens Fitness club so now I have no excuse not to be fit and slim. So far I have been using the swimming pool but come the Autumn and Winter I will try some classes and the gym. I have also recently bought (and am enjoying using) a road bike, while the trusty mountain bike has been retired to a commuter to go the scenic route to work via High Hoyland. Its a fun ride and I should make the most of it while I am here - The move to Leeds looms large for myself and the Bretton Site.

The house is going great, the kitchen was the long running saga and now I am very happy to report it a work of art! lots of lighting of course, the laptop is networked and a few creature comforts are visible in the TV and dishwasher - although I use the excuse of being allergic now to washing up liquid. I have still lots of plans, the patio and main bedroom are next on the list.

I have been active the last year doing various things with the local Spice group, its involved gliding, microlighting, varioius meals (including a New Years Do), walks (including a couple of weekends away), Biking, and sports events - although particularly badminton. I was finding I was doing only the latter recently so have let my membership lapse, but I will be back. Check out their website .
A recent discovery has been the Music Train on the Pennistone line, its a fun journey to Sheffield occasional Mondays - I pick it up in Denby Dale. I can see the line from my front rooms (below). Their web site is here.

I thought you might like a pic of a painting I bought from a local artist, Sybil Burton. |
The local Quaker meeting is a wonderful small, quiet, caring and historic meeting (c1652/4). It is a nice bike or walk up the hill from me on an occasional Sunday morning. The village was a Quaker settlement which provided work for the poor of Huddersfield and for many years the houses were all in Quaker hands, now there is only one family. The light through the hand made glass windows in Autumn and Spring is very special.
