This page has stagnated as I have been very involved in teaching, building theatres, research and not design since arriving at The University of Leeds. Those of you who know me know how much this is a big frustration, I am working on doing a couple of productions these coming years ... watch this space!
This has two pictures, a link to
a page of more pictures and links to the plot / paperwork for the recent show
shows I have lit (plot and paperwork are pdf's
and are big - up to 600k in size). ![]()

| The final large cast production of 2005-2006 in celebration of the School of Medicines 175th Aniversary. The timing of the production left only volunteer designers and this staff designer available. I appreciated getting back into designing formally after a few years out. Thanks to John and Ginger for assistance with lighting. | ||

| Young Performers in Dance ..... Margaret Greenham Theatre, The Banff Centre ..... Progam Head: Annette Av Paul..... Choreographers: Annette Av Paul, Brian McDonald, Susan Toumine, David LaHay, Maureen Eastwick, Karen DuPlessis, Vicki St Denys ..... July / August 2002. | ||
| We were trying to more than last year with less time and less labour, and were shell shocked by the sad death of a colleague. Even with 20% fewer instruments we were rushed on the load in and focus, while the cuing time amounted to 6 hours for 15 pieces. Some good results, particularly with Davids pieces Burden and Eternal, and Karens piece Arquius cued by my assistant Laura South. I designed and supervised a Rep plot for use with Aboriginal Dance, which was lit wonderfully by Beth Kates assisted by Jeff Harrison. | ||

| The Pajama Game ..... Laxsom Auditorium, CSU Chico..... Director: Joel Rogers, Set: Dave Beasley, Costume: Gail Holbrooke..... May 2002. | ||
| A story of love in a pajama factory during a pay dispute between management and the union. Happy soppy songs and a shallow plot. The process was busy and frantic, with myself being board op and electrician. Of all the shows I have lit this is the one I would happily drop out of here, try as I might I could not get it looking as I wished (I blame the set up, crowded fly tower, cartoony scenery and timetable!). | ||

| Street Scene ..... Adams Theatre, CSU Chico..... Director: Randy Wonzong, Set: Marty Gilbert, Costume Designers: Alexis Jensen and April Carmo..... March 2002. | ||
| Set in a Brownstone house in New York 1929 this is a play about the trials of six poor families who rent rooms in the house. The lighting echoed strongly the time of day, Act 1 going from Evening to Night, Act 2 being early morning and Act 3 late afternoon into evening. | ||

| Blue Leaves ..... Wismer Theatre, CSU Chico. Director Randy Wonzong, Set Designer Peter Austin, ....... November 2001. | ||
| This production was my first formal one at Chico State. The production of Assassins I started work upon was cancelled due to Sept 11th. The Wismer is a good sized black box theatre with the only really problem being it only having 29 dimmers. The plot is my first using Vectorworks spotlight - still not convinced, it will take some learning and a lot of extra work to make the plot look as good as Vectorworks alone but I love the export to / import from Lightwright functions. | Large scale Broadway style musical, great sets by Tom, over 1100 prac lamps on the set, 11 different sets, the audience thought it a big success although the process for many was a little painful. | ||

| As You Like It.....Patricia Corbett Theatre, CCM ..... Director: Terrell Finney ..... Set designer: Tricia Thelen ..... Costume designer: Sally Thomas ..... April 2000 | ||
| Magical forest and evil palace all depicted by an open multi level set with three large masks at 15' on a revolve which moved to 11 positions. Both a challenge and fun. | ||
| Les Mamelles de Teresias and Savitri .....Patricia Corbett Theatre, CCM ..... Director: Jose Maria Condemi ..... Set and costume designer: Tricia Thelen ..... January 2000 | ||
| This double bill was due to be the opening show for the new studio theatre but after we had loaded in and coloured it was decided the studio was not ready so I had to design for PCT. Hence two sets of paperwork etc. Interesting challenges of colour and surrealism. Jose Maria is now at SFO and we won the studio section of the National Opera Association with this show. | ||
| The Spaces Between.....Greenham Theatre, Banff Centre ..... Choreographer: Karen Barkley ..... March 1998 | ||
| Three very different pieces in Banff's second theatre space. I am very greatful to John Avery and Dave Ingraham for allowing me to formally design while being a production manager - this was the show which convinced me I should move towards lighting design as a career. I returned to this theatre in the Summer of 2001 to light one of the young performer in dance as my first professional design with an assistant after completing my MFA. | ||
